George Armstrong Custer born on December 5th 1839 in New Rumley, Ohio
June 25th 1876, killed at the battle of Little Big Horn.
Attended school in Monroe, Michigan. Entered West Point Military Academy in 1857 and graduated in 1861.
Army General and famous Indian fighter
The man who was in command at Battle of Little Big Horn where he lost his life, known as Custer’s last stand. The battle was against a coalition of native American Tribes led by Sitting Bull.
Custer’s boldness in battle resulted in rapid promotions.
At 23 he was the youngest brevet Brigadier General in the Union Army.
His wife Elizabeth Bacon, who he married in 1864, played a significant role in his career and in perpetuating his memory. Elizabeth accompanied him during his service on the Western Front.
He was once suspended for a year for disobeying orders.
